Strategies for responding to eWC requests (from meeting on 6/9/08):
• summarizing, reflecting back on what the student has written (“This is what I understand you saying…”)
• multimedia feedback – mp3s, links to videos, etc.
• minimal/limited feedback – isolating 1-2 issues and making the priorities clear to students
• resist internal comments, but numbering ¶s so that internal areas are easily referenced in an endnote
• using the web as a resource – improvising responses but also generating “stock responses”
• raising questions
• one screen as a guideline
• metacomments – “In my comments I will…” (like a README file)
• include original when responding (hit reply and cut and paste the student’s email in place of NOBODY)
